West Atlanta Watershed Alliance (WAWA) is a community-based environmental justice organization dedicated to protecting, stewarding, and restoring the Proctor Creek watershed while advancing environmental education, outdoor recreation, and equitable access to nature. Headquartered at the Outdoor Activity Center (OAC) in West Atlanta, WAWA works with residents, youth, artists, scientists, and partners to build healthy ecosystems and thriving communities.
Founded in 1998, WAWA has grown into a regional leader in urban watershed stewardship, youth engagement, and community-centered conservation. Our work centers the lived experiences and leadership of historically Black neighborhoods impacted by environmental harm, while celebrating culture, creativity, and collective action.
